A GUIDED JOURNAL THAT RESETS YOUR NERVOUS SYSTEM AND BRINGS A SIGH OF RELIEF
A SIGH is often an involuntary release that helps calm the mind and body after experiencing anxiety or trauma.
This guided journal will help you hold on to that feeling of safety.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Hi. You found me! I am Alison, and my passion is women’s healing. I was always pulled towards the world of mental health from a young age. I saw people struggling with every day stress, relationships, addiction, and parenting and I knew I wanted to figure out how to do things differently.
After struggling through high school with little direction and focus, I found my obsession while studying psychology at York University. I started working with neurodiverse young people and also spent some time as a psychometrist during my undergrad years. After finishing my master’s degree in mental health counselling I joined a paediatric eating disorders counselling team at a hospital north of Toronto.
I started building my clientele in the King West neighbourhood of Toronto. After seeing an influx of women struggling with the same obstacles, I knew I found my niche. I noticed that most women were trying to manage body image, anxiety, and relationship challenges. A big focus of my practice was helping women challenge their thinking around the struggles they were having.
Over the years, I started to notice that the usual forms of therapy were not hitting. I noticed that my clients could think their way out of uncomfortable feelings and thoughts, but only when they were feeling good. It became obvious that the more traditional methods were not helping with high stress, panic, or low mood. I knew I had to make a shift if I wanted to equip my clients with strategies that actually worked long term.
My research began to shift to the world of mindfulness and somatic therapy. I learned that in order to have any chance at a healthy mindset, we have to calm the mind and body first. Once I saw how quickly and effectively these somatic and mindfulness strategies were bringing relief to my clients, I knew I had to create a resource they could carry with them every day.
Today my clients are an amazing group of self aware women. They know when to ask for help, and they know exactly which tools to reach for when they are going through it. These women are incorporating strategies into their daily routine and feeling the difference.
I am a trauma - informed therapist and I am certified in Positive Psychotherapy. I am trained in Emotion Freedom Technique (EFT). I am a very proud member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.
I now live on the west side of the city with my husband and two kids. I love being outside, travelling, and practicing copious amounts of self care while indulging in endless bravo and wellness content.
